9th Graders Starting the Year with Community Outreach in Rockville

During the first week of September, 9th graders started their year with community outreach at the Community Ministry of Rockville (CMR). As stated on their website, Community Ministries of Rockville seeks to improve the quality of life for the most vulnerable of Montgomery County residents by providing basic services including housing, healthcare, home-care, education, and emergency assistance, with the goal of achieving and maintaining client self-sufficiency, and advocating on their behalf.

The girls socialized with members of CMR by playing games with the members, engaging in conversations. and sharing stories with one another.

Holton's connection to the CMR has been a long standing one when Kay Fenton, who formerly headed the business office at Holton simultaneously served on the board of the Community Ministry of Rockville as well.  It was noted that the connection is "strong and important relationship obviously remains alive and well." The community organizer shared sentiments of an enjoyable time and commended the Holton girls for a successful outreach with the community members.

What a wonderful way to engage with the local community and kickoff the school year!
