Grade 6 Participates in Holton’s Annual Geography Bee!

Ema and Isabel smile for the camera after
receiving recognition for their achievement!
Since 1994, the sixth grade of Holton-Arms has participated in the National Geographic Society’s annual Geographic Bee. Approximately 45,000 schools across the United States participated. Holton’s annual Geography Bee took place on Monday, February 2 and Tuesday, February 3. The entire sixth grade class participated and there were several rounds of difficult questions on topics such as U.S. Geography, U.S. Geographic Comparisons, U.S. Physical Geography, Continents, World Geography, Cultural Geography, and more.

To prepare, the sixth graders visited National Geographic’s GeoBee Challenge website on a daily basis to take ten question quizzes. The girls were surprised and excited to find out how much they already knew about geography and world cultures from their classes here at Holton!

Congratulations go to winner, Ema '21 and runner-up, Isabel '21! Ema took a qualifying test for the Maryland state championship and is awaiting her results.
